COMMUNITY AGGREEMENT

Community Agreement:
Trash Panda RP Server

Purpose

Trash Panda’s community agreement replaces traditional rules with an agreed-upon framework crafted by the community. To participate in an event on a Trash Panda server, players must first review this document and agree to abide by its terms.

This agreement favors brevity over legalese. The dungeon master for the campaign or event has the responsibility of reasonably interpreting and applying these guidelines.

Age requirement

Due to the mature nature of some story elements, Trash Panda RP’s Discord and play servers are an adults-only environment. For the safety of minors and the peace of mind of adults who want to play without concern for what is appropriate around minors, this requirement is without exception.

Dungeon Master

The DM for any campaign or event is responsible for writing the story, playing some or all of the campaign’s NPCs, altering or creating any required mods, and all other duties related to running and completing a fun experience for all.

When a campaign’s final event concludes, all Trash Pandas will have the opportunity to present a pitch for the next campaign and themselves as its DM. A ranked choice vote will then decide who gets the DM responsibility.

DMs are expected to carry a lot of roleplay and creative responsibility, in addition to being a fair arbiter.

Players

A campaign or event’s players are the primary focus. The story is theirs to play in, and they share the most roleplay responsibility outside of the DM. Their characters get the most “screen time.” They also have the most leeway in how they choose to play their characters or react to the story unfolding. Player characters are intended to be permanent for the campaign, or as long as they remain alive.

EVENT STAFF

Sometimes the players will need to encounter a group of NPCs, requiring the DM to have non-player Pandas fill certain roles. In order to ensure a fun and engaging experience for the players, roleplay restrictions for how to play these support characters are often much tighter.

Many NPCs are background characters or temporary one-ofs. Some, however, might be major roles like the recurring main villain of the story. The DM has final say over the role event staff and their support characters will play.

Players cannot be event staff in their own campaigns.

Code of honor

For the good of the roleplay environment, Trash Pandas agree that everyone should adhere to these guidelines crafted by the community:

Keep it in character.

Trash Panda RP servers are an in-character (IC) only environment. Those playing a character, staff or players, agree to stay in character at all times when playing. This means dedication to everyone’s roleplay immersion. Discussion of out-of-character (OOC) game elements — levels, experience, game mechanics — breaks immersion.

Using OOC means to discuss, negotiate, or influence ongoing roleplay is considered a violation of the trust of all Trash Pandas who agreed upon their honor to uphold this code. The campaign DM should be present if the rare need to discuss IC events OOC should arise. Upon the conclusion of a campaign or a non-campaign event, its roleplay, story elements, etc. may be discussed freely out of character.

RP comes first

The Trash Panda community remains dedicated to professional, quality roleplay. The story and the RP around it always come first. No one is the main character, unfair things happen in a chaotic world, plans don’t always get realized, and others with different character goals are playing alongside us. The shared goal of playing amazing characters in an interesting story serves to unite everyone.

Stay classy

An enjoyable experience for all should be a top priority. While it’s expected that conflict between some characters will arise, repeated and excessive targeting of a player’s characters, abuse, or harassment is considered dishonorable. Heavy topics like sexual assault, sexual violence, torture, homophobia, racism, etc. should be avoided.

We don’t do that here.

All Trash Pandas are responsible for maintaining a friendly and inviting environment. Holding each other accountable to the code of honor makes this possible. If someone is out of line, have the courage to remind them, “We don’t do that here.” Keep it in character; RP comes first, and stay classy out there.
